The Mangalore Catholic Co-operative Bank (MCC Bank) celebrated its post-centenary decennial celebrations on Sunday, the November 27, 2022 at Milagres College Ground, Mangalore.
Chairman of the bank Anil Lobo welcomed dignitaries. Addressing the gathering, he explained how the MCC Bank has been involved in social services including providing scholarships to students and other charity works. "MCC is really the pride of the community. The bank challenged and successfully faced false allegations," he added. He presented in his presidential speech growth of the bank in 110 years, progress of the Bank by the present Management and future plans of the Bank.
A floral tribute was offered to a portrait of founder, PFX Saldanha.
The Celebration was inaugurated by Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha. In his inaugural speech Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said, "MCC Bank is a pride for the Catholic society. The bank is working for the welfare of the society as well. The bank has contributed to the society through various means. The MCC Bank is showing the principle of gratitude. Recently, the bank has spent Rs 15 lac to uplift the downtrodden." He also added that the common man could easily access the bank without much difficulty.
Bishop of Udupi Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, blessing the occasion, said, "Service is the strongest sector in the society. There is no measure to calculate service. Service is service itself. MCC Bank is not only a pride of the community but also of the state.”. He also added that to run banking successfully, it should have prompt administration, satisfied staff and supporting customers. With a great motto and vision this bank has reached great heights, he added. Also, he hailed the chairman of the bank Anil Lobo as a leader who is taking the bank to great heights.
Former MCC Bank chairman Valentine D'Silva, Bishops Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha and Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, MCC Bank General Manager Sunil Menezes, Dy General Manager Raj Menezes and Senior Manager Deril Lasrado were honoured on the occasion.
The programme was followed by the cultural programme by the stars of Daijiworld TV - MCC Bank Ltd JigiBigi Taram finalists Samantha Mascarenhas, Ishney Fernandes and Melona Saldanha. MTG winner Velita Lobo, semi-finalist Karen Crasta, SOAD and GVOM winner Robin Sequeira and well-known singer Mohammad Iqbal also mesmerized the audience with their singing. Band Route 96 led by Sanjay Rodrigues, Roshan Crasta Bela, Melroy Furtado and Sanjeeth Rodrigues. Rib-trickling comedy by team Memory was another highlight of the cultural event.
Before the Celebration Holy eucharistic Mass was celebrated at our Lady of Miracles, Milagres Church, Mangalore. Udupi Bishop Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lob was the main celebrant.
General Manager Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks. Nelson Monis compered the inaugural part of the event and Lavita Menezes compered the cultural programme.
